Superman III Soundtrack (Ken Thorne/Giorgio Moroder) - The score for Superman III  was released in 1983 and was adapted and re-recorded by British composer Ken Thorne. The film's producers (Alexander Salkind and Ilya Salkind) also hired Giorgio Moroder to write and produce original songs for the film, which were performed by various artists. Consequently, Superman III  was the first of the films to have a score and soundtrack on the same release. Side 'A' was devoted to Ken Thorne's scoring and adaptation of John Williams' original music, while Side 'B' was devoted to music by Giorgio Moroder.  Moroder wrote the instrumental "Love Theme" for Clark Kent (Christopher Reeve) and Lana Lang (Annette O'Toole), which was performed by Helen St. John on the soundtrack album. Thorne also incorporated this beautiful theme into the film's score and his orchestral arrangement produced a lovely and moving instrumental melody.

A vinyl record album [LP] and a CD of the Superman III  soundtrack were released in Japan.

The record [LP] was released in 1983 and contained the same title tracks found in the U.S. version (see above). The main difference between the U.S and Japan records were the variant album covers used.

A CD was also released in Japan in 1990 and it contained both Superman II  and the Superman III  soundtracks (see above). The cover artwork is similar to the Superman III  Japanese album cover however, the CD cover incorporated and highlighted the Superman II  film's title and themes.
